Carmina Burana – October 6, 2021
Timothy Vernon will conduct this powerful Opening Night performance featuring the great fanfare of Janacek’s Sinfonietta and the thrill of Orff’s Carmina Buran with the Orchestra London Philharmonic Choir and three stellar soloists: London’s own Leslie Fagan, tenor Darryl  Edwards and baritone Aaron St. Clair Nicholson.

MASTERWORKS

Great Romantics:  October 20 & 21, 2004
London’s own Jennifer Orchard joins Orchestra London for the beautiful Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto.  Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 (The “Great”) completes an evening of truly grand Romantic works.

American Masters:  November 24 & 25, 2004
Pianist Hershey Felder plays the famous Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue as Orchestra London pays tribute to our southern neighbours featuring Bernstein’s West Side Story Symphonic Dances, Adams’ Lollapalooza and excerpts from Copland’s Rodeo.

Winter Warmth:  January 26 & 27, 2005
Canadian pianist and composer Heather Schmidt comes to London to perform her own Piano Concerto No. 2, already garnering rave reviews throughout North America.  With Prokofiev’s Overture on Hebrew Themes and Tchaikovsky’s triumphant Symphony No. 5, this program offers musical warmth in the midst of the winter season.

Mozart Meets Bruckner II:  March 9 & 10, 2005
Following on the enormous audience response to our Mozart/Bruckner program in 2003, we offer the same composers in very different works.  Concertmaster Joseph Lanza and principal violist Kelvin Enns will be featured in Mozart’s wonderful Sinfonia Concertante in E Flat, paired in this concert with Bruckner’s most familiar and beloved work, Symphony No. 7

Beethoven’s Thirds:  April 13 & 14, 2005
The great Canadian pianist Anton Kuerti joins Orchestra London as part of an all-Beethoven concert featuring ‘Beethoven’s Thirds’: Leonore Overture No. 3, Piano Concerto No. 3  and Symphony No. 3 (Eroica).  Orchestra London’s former Music Director Alexis Hauser returns for this concert.

A Thundering Beat:  May 18 & 19, 2005
The series concludes with Kelly Marie Murphy’s stunning and evocative overture, From the drum comes a thundering beat, and William Walton’s electrifying Belshazaar’s Feast, featuring the Orchestra London Philharmonic Choir and  baritone Theodore Baerg.

SINFONIA

Bach and the Brandenburgs:  October 27, 2021
Timothy Vernon conducts a concert dedicated to the music of Bach, including Brandenburg Concertos. No. 1, 3 & 5.

Mozart’s Requiem:  November 10, 2021
At this time of remembrance, we mourn the tragic loss of all those who have died in wars all over this world.  Orchestra London will be joined by the Amabile Chamber Choir and soloists for this Mozart program which culminates with his stirring Requiem.

Rejoice!:  December 22, 2021
Celebrate the holiday season with Christmas themed music by Handel, Mozart, Gossec, Corelli and more in the glorious acoustics of St. Paul’s Cathedral.  Soprano Nathalie Paulin joins the orchestra for Handel’s Let the Bright Seraphim as well as the famous “Alleluia” from Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate.

Austrian Artistry:  February 16, 2021
Jeanne Lamon, music director of the celebrated Tafelmusik Baroque   Orchestra, returns this season to lead Orchestra London in this concert featuring the legacy of Austrian composers in Baroque and Classical works for chamber orchestra including Mozart’s famous Eine Kleine Nachtmusik

St. John Passion:  March 23, 2021
Join London Pro Musica and five spectacular soloists for the story of Christ’s final days as told through Bach’s wondrous St. John Passion with its glorious choruses, stunning arias and moving chorales.  This performance will be enhanced by a free seminar on the Gospel of John and the problems of anti-Semitism that arise from some translations.

Italian Baroque:  May 11, 2021
As the season draws to a close, we look to one of the richest sources of the Baroque repertoire, Italy, and explore the broad range of both familiar favourites, and lesser known gems.

CENTURY SERIES

Appalachian Rhapsody:  November 2, 2021
The familiar music of Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, in its original chamber orchestra version, will be presented alongside some newer works with a Romantic core. Clarinetist Jerome Summers joins Orchestra London and conductor Stephane Laforest for the World Premiere of Royer’s Rhapsody as well as Baker’s Concerto for Clarinet.

The Child Within:  January 12, 2022
The 2003 introduction of Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina was immensely popular with the audience. This season, we present her Hommage à T.S. Eliot for soprano and orchestra.  Soprano Monica Whicher also joins the orchestra for Vivier’s Lonely Child.

Great Composers, Intimate Works:  March 30, 2021
The Century Series ends with wonderful music for chamber orchestra by the most celebrated composers of the last century.  You will hear some of the most intimate moments ever created by Stravinsky, Milhaud, Schoenberg and Hindemith.

TOSCA   June 3-11, 2005

Orchestra London presents one of opera’s most popular creations, Puccini’s Tosca.  Soaring melodies and riveting drama dominate this tragic love story set in Rome in 1800.  Enjoy the intimacy and beauty of London’s Grand Theatre as you discover why Puccini’s operas continue to be among the most performed works ever written.

Primadonna on a Moose:  October 16 & 17, 2004
Best known for her five one-woman shows, Canada’s Primadonna Mary Lou Fallis joins Orchestra London for this comical look at the life of a singer, Canada and music.

An Unlikely Affair:  November 13 & 14, 2004
Great Canadian fiddler Frank Leahy (who plays Don Messer’s Violin) teams up with American virtuosic violinist Robin Braun for this concert of humor, drama, banter and musical virtuosity.  A show as American as apple pie, as Canadian as the Mounties and as universal as Romeo and Juliet.

Christmas Pops:  December 4 & 5, 2004
A favourite concert for many years, Jeff Christmas will conduct this annual tradition with selections to make the season bright including the perennial audience carol sing-a-long.

Celebrating Sinatra:  February 12 & 13, 2005
As Old Blue Eyes looks down upon us, the vibrant Jim Witter returns to London in this concert paying tribute to this great music legend of the 20th Century.

A Tribute to Lerner & Lowe:  April 9 & 10, 2005
Brian Jackson conducts Orchestra London in this fun and lighthearted concert featuring favourite selections from this legendary Broadway team. Highlights will include music from Camelot, My Fair Lady and more.

RSVPops:  May 28 & 29, 2005
As we journey through the season, Orchestra London will survey the audience to plan for this concert of your favourites…an orchestral ‘choose your own adventure’.  You’ll also have the chance to hear 2004 Kiwanis Rose Bowl Winner flutist Grant van Dyke.

POPS SPECIAL

Natalie MacMaster:  January 22 & 23, 2005
Enjoy a mid-winter warm-up as everyone’s favourite Cape Bretoner joins Orchestra London for this toe-tapping concert.  MacMaster will light your soul on fire with spirited jigs and reels, and stirring strathspeys and airs, all highlighting the lively tradition of her Nova Scotian and Highland heritage.

RED HOT WEEKENDS

Rock ‘n Roll Heaven:  November 19 & 20, 2004
Since the earliest days of rock ’n roll, it seems we’ve prematurely lost some of the best and the brightest.  Jean Meilleur, Thomas Wade, Rique Franks and Paul Stephens will pay tribute to such greats as Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury, Janis Joplin and more.

Have Yourself a Rockin’ Little Xmas:  December 17 & 18, 2004
A wonderful holiday tradition, Orchestra London and the Jeans ‘n  Classics Band present a concert filled with all of your classic favourites and a few new twists.  This evening is guaranteed to get you in the mood for the holidays with Jim Witter, Denise Pelley, newcomer Taylor Jordan and saxophonist Aaron Macdonald.

The Song Remains the Same - The Music of Led Zeppelin:  January 14 & 15, 2005
This fabulous new show features the phenomenal vocal talents of Michael Shotton as we perform the work of legendary rock band, Led Zeppelin, whose unique style influenced rock music for an entire generation.

Emmett Does Clapton:  February 18 & 19, 2005
The incomparable Rik Emmett joins Orchestra London for a fabulous  evening featuring the work of legendary artist, Eric Clapton. 

She Bops:  April 1 & 2, 2005
This great show will pay tribute to the fabulous ‘80’s female groups and artists as Rique Franks, Leah Salomaa, Lis Soderberg and Katalin Kiss perform the music of Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, The Bangles and  more.

A Symphonic Rocker’s Dream:  May 13 & 14, 2005
To close the season, we present the ultimate in classic rock with Orchestra London front and centre.  Michael Shotton, Jim Witter, Jean Meilleur and trumpeter Paul Stevenson star in A Symphonic Rocker’s Dream including material by Genesis, Moody Blues, David Bowie, The Electric Light Orchestra, The Who, and more!

Roch Voisine: October 8 & 9, 2004
Canadian pop idol, Roch Voisine, joins Orchestra London for a special concert that will launch the 2004-05 Red Hot Weekends season in style.

SERENADE BRUNCH

A Family Affair:  November 21, 2021
Comprised of Orchestra London’s own Linda Umbrico, with husband Ross McDonald and mother (and former TSO harpist) Judy Loman, the Kawartha Trio will delight with an afternoon of music for viola, clarinet, and harp.

Brahms, Beethoven & Brunch:  February 27, 2021
Join a quintet of Orchestra London’s finest musicians, led by concertmaster Joseph Lanza, for an hour of music that is sure to warm your heart and help keep away the  winter blues.

Tokai String Quartet:  May 8, 2021
As the only Canadian entry in the 2004 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Tokai String Quartet is an ensemble on the rise.  Here is your chance to hear this talented young quartet which includes Orchestra London’s Rafael Hoekman.

Percussions Greatest Hits:  November 28, 2021
The Toronto Percussion Ensemble will demonstrate the pure fun of percussion in this concert that will have your children hopping in their seats.

Roald Dahl’s Little Red Riding Hood:  January 30, 2021
Your children will love this new adaptation of a timeless children’s classic featuring Orchestra London and actors from Dandi Productions.

Music for the Young & Young at Heart:  April 17, 2021
Jeff Christmas is joined by Jean Meilleur as they present an afternoon of crazy characters, audience interaction, storytelling and lots of fun.

Toot Your Horn II:  October 10, 2021
The members of the Orchestra London French Horn section return with a sequel to their well-loved concert from two seasons ago.

Flautenpauken - The Best of Times:  December 12, 2021
Annelie Metrakos and D’Arcy Gray present a  musical journey through the ages with flute and percussion.

An Adventure at Granny’s: April 3, 2021
Kids will enjoy this playful telling of an exciting adventure to grandmother’s house with clarinetist Marie Johnson and cellist Jeff Garrett.
